STEP BY STEP
What Your Installation Includes
-
In-home consultation. We walk the house, talk about the rooms that are too hot or too cold, and look at insulation, windows and your existing heating system.
-
Load calculation. We calculate the heating and cooling load for each room so every indoor unit is sized for the space, not guessed.
-
System design. We choose single-zone or multi-zone equipment, the indoor unit style for each room, and the outdoor unit location, and we put the exact models and warranty on your written estimate.
-
Permits. We pull the required municipal permits and schedule inspections.
-
Indoor units. We mount each indoor unit level on a secure bracket, drill a small sealed wall opening, and route the line set to respect plaster walls and your home's finishes.
-
Outdoor unit. We set the outdoor unit on a raised stand, pad or wall bracket above the snow line, with clearance for airflow and defrost drainage.
-
Line set, drain and wiring. We run copper refrigerant lines, the condensate drain or pump, and communication wiring, and cover exterior runs with line-hide for a clean look. A dedicated electrical circuit and disconnect are installed to code.
-
Pressure test and vacuum. We pressure test with nitrogen and pull a deep vacuum before releasing refrigerant, so the system starts leak-free and dry.
-
Startup and testing. We check refrigerant charge, temperatures and airflow at every indoor unit, and confirm heating and cooling modes.
-
Walkthrough and registration. We show you the remotes, Wi-Fi control and filter cleaning, then register the system with Mitsubishi Electric.

COLD-CLIMATE HEATING
Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat for Westchester Winters
Standard heat pumps lose heating capacity as the temperature drops. Mitsubishi's Hyper-Heat (H2i) systems are cold-climate heat pumps built to keep heating through New York winters, with many models rated to operate down to -13°F. That lets a properly sized system serve as your main heat, or work alongside your boiler or furnace as a backup. We install Hyper-Heat ductless and ducted systems throughout Westchester.

SYSTEM OPTIONS
Single-Zone vs. Multi-Zone Systems
A single-zone system pairs one outdoor unit with one indoor unit. It is ideal for a single room such as an addition, a finished attic, a home office or a sunroom.
A multi-zone system connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, each with its own thermostat, so every bedroom and living space can be set to its own temperature. Indoor units come in several styles: wall-mounted, ceiling cassette, floor-mounted and concealed ducted units that hide in a closet or attic. We recommend the number of zones your home actually needs, since extra zones add cost without adding comfort.

SAVINGS
Rebates and Incentives in New York
The NYS Clean Heat program, offered through utilities such as Con Edison, provides incentives for qualifying cold-climate heat pumps that are sized to heat the whole home or a defined part of it. Incentive levels depend on your utility, home type and whether your old heating system is removed. As a participating contractor, we check eligibility, size the system to program rules and handle the paperwork.
The federal energy efficient home improvement tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Mitsubishi Mini-Split FAQs
Can a mini-split heat my whole house in a Westchester winter?
Yes, when it is a cold-climate system sized correctly. Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat models are built to keep heating in sub-zero weather. We calculate your home's heating load and design the system to meet it, and you can keep your existing boiler or furnace as backup if you prefer.
Â
Can I add mini-splits to a house with radiators and no ductwork?
Yes. That is one of the most common reasons homeowners choose ductless. Each indoor unit needs only a small wall opening for the line set, so there is no need to open walls or ceilings for ductwork.
Â
How long does installation take?
A single-zone system is usually installed in a day. Multi-zone systems typically take longer depending on the number of indoor units, line set routes and electrical work. We give you a schedule with your estimate.
Â
Do I need a permit for a mini-split in Westchester?
Most Westchester municipalities require a permit, especially for the electrical work. We pull permits and schedule inspections as part of every installation.
Â
How do I get the 12-year Mitsubishi warranty?
The system must be installed in an owner-occupied home by a Diamond Contractor and registered by that contractor within 90 days. We register every qualifying system we install. Some wall-mounted series carry a 10-year warranty, and we list the coverage for your exact equipment on the estimate.
Mini-Splits for Older Westchester Homes
Many homes in Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown and Briarcliff Manor were built with radiators and no ductwork. Ductless mini-splits add air conditioning without tearing open walls, and Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat models keep heating in deep cold, so the same system can carry you through winter as well as summer.
Moving Off Oil Heat
If you want to replace or reduce oil or gas heat, we design a heat pump system for the whole house or for the rooms you use most. As a NYS Clean Heat participating contractor, we can apply eligible incentives on your invoice. See our heat pump installation in Westchester, NY page.
Additions, Attics and Basements
Finished attics, basements, sunrooms and additions are often the hardest rooms to heat and cool from an existing system. A single-zone mini-split solves that one room without touching the rest of the house.
Towns We Serve
We serve Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, White Plains, Scarsdale, Briarcliff Manor, Rockland County and Greenwich and Stamford.
Will a mini-split heat my home in January?
Cold-climate Hyper-Heat models are designed to keep heating at low outdoor temperatures. We size the system so it can meet your home's heating load.
Do mini-splits qualify for NYS Clean Heat?
Cold-climate heat pumps installed by a participating contractor may qualify, depending on your utility and project. We check eligibility before you commit.
Is the consultation free?
Yes.
