Mitsubishi Ductless Mini-Split Installation in Riverview and Tampa Bay, FL
HROD HVAC installs Mitsubishi Electric ductless mini-splits for homes and businesses across the Tampa Bay Area from our base in Riverview. As a licensed Florida air conditioning contractor (CAC1824764) and a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor, we design each system for Florida heat and humidity, install it to Mitsubishi's standards and register it for the longest warranty Mitsubishi offers. Mini-splits are a great fit for garages, room additions, bonus rooms, enclosed lanais, in-law suites and any room your central AC cannot keep comfortable.
Ducted
Hides in a closet or attic and serves the room through a small vent.

STEP BY STEP
What Your Installation Includes
-
In-home consultation. We look at the space, sun exposure, insulation and how the room is used.
-
Load calculation. We size each indoor unit to the room's cooling load. An oversized unit cools quickly but leaves the air damp; a correctly sized one runs longer and pulls out humidity.
-
System design. Single-zone or multi-zone, indoor unit style and outdoor unit location, with exact models and warranty listed on your written estimate.
-
Permits. We pull the Hillsborough County (or local) mechanical permit and schedule the final inspection.
-
Indoor units. Each indoor unit is mounted level on a secure bracket with a small sealed wall opening.
-
Outdoor unit. Set on a pad or wall bracket, secured to code, with clearance for airflow and service.
-
Line set, drain and wiring. Copper refrigerant lines, a properly sloped condensate drain or pump, communication wiring, line-hide on exterior runs, and a dedicated circuit and disconnect.
-
Pressure test and vacuum. Nitrogen pressure test and deep vacuum before the refrigerant is released.
-
Startup and testing. We verify refrigerant charge, supply temperatures and airflow at every indoor unit.
-
Walkthrough and registration. Remote and Wi-Fi setup, filter cleaning instructions, and registration with Mitsubishi Electric.

BUILT FOR FLORIDA
Built for Florida Heat and Humidity
Mitsubishi inverter-driven compressors adjust their speed instead of switching fully on and off. In Florida that means steadier temperatures, longer and quieter run cycles that remove more moisture, and lower energy use than older on/off equipment. Dry mode adds extra dehumidification on humid days, and every mini-split is also a heat pump for the few cool nights we get. Because there are no ducts, there is no duct leakage in a hot attic.

SYSTEM OPTIONS
Single-Zone vs. Multi-Zone Systems
A single-zone system is one outdoor unit and one indoor unit, ideal for a garage, addition, bonus room or lanai.
A multi-zone system runs several indoor units from one outdoor unit, each with its own temperature control, so you can cool bedrooms, an office and a living area independently. Indoor units come in wall-mounted, ceiling cassette, floor-mounted and concealed ducted styles. We recommend only the zones you need.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Mitsubishi Mini-Split FAQs
Is a mini-split a good choice for a Florida garage or lanai?
Yes. A ductless system cools and dehumidifies one space without tying into your central AC, which is often already working at its limit. An enclosed space with reasonable insulation gives the best results, and we size the unit to that room.

Will a mini-split help with humidity?
A correctly sized inverter mini-split runs longer at lower speed, which removes more moisture than a unit that cools quickly and shuts off. Dry mode adds extra dehumidification on muggy days.

How long does installation take?
A single-zone system is usually installed in a day. Multi-zone systems take longer depending on the number of indoor units and the line set routes. Your estimate includes the schedule.

How do I get the 12-year Mitsubishi warranty?
The system must be installed in an owner-occupied home by a Diamond Contractor and registered by that contractor within 90 days. We register every qualifying system we install and list the coverage for your exact equipment on the estimate.

Is there a federal tax credit for a mini-split in 2026?
No. The federal credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025. Utility programs from Tampa Electric and Duke Energy Florida may still apply, and we can help you check.
Where Mini-Splits Make the Most Sense in Florida
Garages turned into gyms or workshops, room additions, bonus rooms over the garage, enclosed lanais, in-law suites, and any room your central AC cannot keep comfortable. Because each indoor unit has its own control, you cool only the rooms you use, and the central system no longer has to overwork to reach a far room.
Humidity Control
In Florida, comfort is as much about moisture as temperature. An oversized unit cools quickly and shuts off before it removes moisture, leaving the room cold and clammy. We size each indoor unit to the room's load so it runs long enough to dry the air. Mitsubishi systems also offer a dry mode for muggy shoulder-season days.
Built for the Coast
Outdoor units near the water face salt air and hurricane season. We place and mount outdoor units to suit the site, keep line sets protected and route condensate properly.
Areas We Serve

Can one outdoor unit run several rooms?
Yes, a multi-zone system connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit.
Do you pull permits?
Yes, we pull the Hillsborough County (or local) permit and schedule the inspection.
Is the estimate free?
